If your throat chakra is blocked, you have a difficult time with communication and speaking your truth. Authenticity is likely something that you grapple with. Unfortunately that can have negative consequences on your life. Authenticity is powerful. Once you can stand up and show the world who you are you will find that people treat you better and are even drawn to you. Have you ever met someone who you admired because they seemed so true to themselves? That’s the power of authenticity and it can move mountains.
Once you realize that this is an area that you need to work on, it’s natural to want to become more authentic and regain your throat chakra power. You want the ability to say ‘yes’ to what you want and ‘no’ to what you don’t want. You want the ability to stand up for yourself and those that you care about. You want the ability to live the life that you are passionate about rather than the life that someone else expects you to lead. This is something that everyone can do. The beauty about spiritual healing is that anyone can benefit once you put your mind to it.
If you want to open your throat chakra, there are a number of things you can do that will aid you in the process.
You can sing. When you sing, you are forcing words and music up and out. Pay particular attention to what you are singing. Look for songs that empower you and have themes related to confidence and self-worth. As your spirit is moved by the music and as you sing with passion, you are giving your throat chakra a workout that will benefit your entire life.
You can start small. When you’re afraid to speak your truth, don’t expect to get up in front of an auditorium of people and suddenly tell the world who you are. Instead, tell one person, and then another, and then another. Each time you let someone know something about the real you — no matter how tiny it is — your throat chakra becomes a little less blocked and it becomes even easier to be authentic the next time.
You can chant. Chanting has a way of opening up the energy centers in our bodies. In the book True Balance by Sonia Choquette, there are examples of chants that you can use to open up all of your chakras.
