Law of Attraction: Octavia Butler’s vision of her success

visualizingDon’t you love Law of Attraction and manifestation stories? When you hear about someone who used the principles of the Law of Attraction and experienced success, it motivates you to keep applying the principles to your own life.

Take Octavia Butler. Science fiction and fantasy fans might be familiar with this prolific author who penned such novels as “Kindred” and “Parable of the Talents.” Well apparently, she also wrote about the success that she would ¬†experience in the future. And it turns out she was right.

The year 2016 marks the tenth anniversary of Butler’s death. ¬†Her personal journals have recently been released and they reveal something interesting indeed. In a notebook from 1988, Butler wrote: “I shall be a bestselling writer…each of my books will be on the bestseller lists of LAT, NYT, PW, WP, etc. My novels will go onto above lists whether publishers push them hard or not.”

Many of her novels went on to do just that shortly after Butler recorded those affirmations.

Writing down your goals is an excellent way to put your intentions out into the Universe. It takes energy to write and so making that little bit of effort gives your goals an added boost that you wouldn’t get by just thinking about them. Think about it: When you write something down, it becomes real.

Another technique that is similar to what Butler did is ‘scripting.’ This is when you keep a journal and describe your life as you want it to be. However, you do this in the present tense. So had Butler taken the scripting approach, she would have described her day as a bestselling writer. She may have written about the book signings she took part in or how she felt seeing her name at the top of the bestseller lists.

Doing so helps you to envision an ideal future before you can see it with your physical eyes, which is key to Law of Attraction success. For other Law of Attraction tips, including a mistake that many people make, check out the video for Manifestation Miracle.
