How you speak affects your savings

Zemanta Related Posts ThumbnailLaw of Attraction practitioners know that the way you speak impacts your present. But now, science is catching up.

When we speak of things that are coming in the future, they always stay out there — in the future. On the other hand when we speak of things in the present tense — whether they are actually here right now or not — we bring them closer to us.

Here’s an example:

Futurespeak: I will be prosperous.

Presentspeak: I am prosperous.

The first statement suggests that we’ll be prosperous some time in the future. (Will that future ever get here?) The second statement suggest that we are prosperous (and all that comes with that) now. That is why affirmations should always be stated in the present as if they have already come to be.

So here’s where science comes in. According to Yale behavioral economist Keith Chen, people who speak languages that¬†have a future tense save less than those who speak languages that don’t have a future tense.¬† The scientific reasoning behind that is that people who speak a language that focuses more on the future feel that they have more time to save so they put saving off. Whereas, those who speak a language that focuses more on the NOW save and amass their riches NOW.

Either way you look at it, you can’t deny that your full power is in the present. When you pay attention to your present moment rather than focusing on the past or the future, you have so much energy that can be used to create the life that you want.

Keep your language in the present and watch your statements become your reality.
